This past week has been Fire Prevention Week. SAFPD hosted and attended numerous events throughout the week. Some of these included: Westview School and Lighthouse Academy Presentations. During these events, we show the kids our Fire Apparatus, some of the equipment we use, let them spray water with a fire hose, see how a fully equipped firefighter looks/sounds like so they wouldnt be scared if one came into a house to rescue them. We told them the importance of smoke detectors, seat belts, stop-drop and roll, and get low and get out. Overall this past week, SAFPD had interacted with over 600 children.

The Seneca Area Fire Protection District was formed in 1989. It is a tax based, fully volunteer agency that covers over 93 square miles in Southwest Missouri. It stretches from Iris Road (North) to the McDonald County Line (South), and from the Oklahoma State Line (West) to Goldfinch Road (East). In addition to providing fire protection and suppression services, SAFPD also responds to Medical emergencies, Hazardous Materials response, Rescue and other emergency incidents.  We are also a member of an area mutual aid agreement with several local fire departments throughout Newton, Jasper, and McDonald Counties, as well as counties in Kansas and Oklahoma.

We operate out of 2 Stations located on the North and South areas of Newton County.
